Body Piercing, Is There Anything Wrong With It?

By David Kunstek When you spend a day at the mall, you see people with body piercings. Perhaps you see someone with a nose ring. Another may have a belly button ring. In fact, you may see people with some really crazy body piercing. Is there any reason that people should not have so many body piercings? When it all comes down to it, it is everyone’s separate decision to be made, but we must ask, is there anything wrong with it, really? Body piercing is popular, especially among teens. Something that once started as earrings led to the piercing of many other body parts. Do you have your ears pierced? Is there something wrong with people who have their ears pierced? Many teens find body piercing to be a way of self expression and a way to rebel. Today, people get their noses, tongues, eye brows, belly buttons and even other places pierced. You can go into any jewelry store at the mall and find belly button and eye brow rings. The jewelry itself is not tacky or ugly, but can be very regular pieces. So, what makes body piercing so bad, then? People have preconceived notions about people who are different from them. When ladies started to get their ears pierced, that was taboo as well. As time goes on and things become more “normal” the preconceived notions about body piercings will go away as well. As long as the piercing is done properly, in a clean environment and is taken care of properly, then there are no adverse side effects to having body piercings. Again, they must be taken care of and cleaned properly though as infections can spread rapidly this way. So, the next time you are at that mall and see a group of girls walk by with belly button rings, think twice before you judge them. Consider why you don’t like that eye brow ring on the boy who is taking your order’s face. Think twice when judging others because as you judge them, they may be judging you right back! Wedding Dresses - Frequently Asked Questions

By Martin Smith Youve gotten engaged and have set the wedding date and now its time to get down to business. All the planning and decisions can be overwhelming to the most organized and practical bride-to-be. There is help out there for you. Below are some suggestions of how to go about buying your wedding dress. Q. How much time do I have before my wedding to look for my dress? You should begin looking for the dress as soon as possible after the date date is set. It could take you awhile to find the perfect dress. Once you do find it, there is likely to be alterations that need to be done and accessories to be bought. Q. Where can I look for a dress that offers a variety of styles at various prices? Look in bridal magazines. The choice of dresses will depend greatly on the time of year your wedding will take place, the type of wedding you are planning, and your budget. Q. Why do I need someone to come with me while I am looking for my wedding gown? The reason for having someone with you is for moral support and to help you decide whether a dress is a good style for you or not. Besides it can be fun shopping with someone else. Q. How much can I expect to put down on a deposit for my dress? You can expect to put down at least half of the total price of your dress. It is a good idea to pay this portion of your dress with a credit card. If goes something seriously wrong with the purchase you might be able to negotiate reimbursement through your credit card company. Q. I wear a size six dress but my wedding dress is a size 10, why is that? The wedding dress designers each use a different sizing chart and these sizes tend to be a bit larger than typical sizes. It is best to look at and/or buy a dress that fits. If you lose weight it is easier to take the dress in than it is to increase its size. Q. Do I need to have the things I will wear with my wedding dress when I go for a fitting? Yes have what you will be wearing with you when you go for fittings. The undergarments including a slip or hoop skirts size could be affected if you wear something different. You will want to have the same good fit on your big day as you do during fittings. Q. What should I look for in a wedding dress? When you are looking for a dress make sure the buttons are secure.Turn the dress inside out and inspect all seams. Make sure the stitching of the seams is solid and that there are no gaps in stitching. Check the Beading and appliques to be sure they well stitched. If the beads are glued on you might consider another dress as the beads could fall off. Q. How can I protect myself in the event something goes wrong with the purchase of my wedding dress? The best way is to pay the deposit for your dress with a credit card. This way if the deposit is non-refundable as is the case in most places, you might be able to go through the credit card company. Also make sure you get your purchase order in writing so that if there is difficulty you can refer to it. Q. Will I still be able to get a terrific dress if I am on a budget? Yes you should be able to get a terrific dress no matter what your budget is. Some of the well-known wedding dress sellers will hold $99 sales or basement sales. Also, dont just look at wedding dresses. Take a look at prom dresses. Designer knock-offs can be purchased at prices that are up to 50% less than the origin. Is Deception Threatening Your Relationship’s Heart? 10 Questions Women Must Ask Themselves

By Conner O’Seanery At the heart of every healthy relationship beats a single, undeniable quality: Honesty. Threatening the heart of every healthy relationship is the artery-clogging cholesterol of deception. Left untreated, the sticky lies between you and your man can build up and build up until, one day, wham! Your relationship suffers cardiac arrest and flat lines. But lies won’t leave your relationship lying dead on the table if you know the warning signs to listen and look for. Take your relationship’s pulse by honestly answering these 10 questions: 1. Does your guy ask you to repeat questions over and over? He says it’s because he damaged his hearing listening to Ozzy Osbourne as a teenager. You think the damage — like with Ozzy — is located between his ears. But beware! Asking for a question to be repeated is also a favorite technique used by a liar to buy time and come up with an answer in the dark corners of his mind. Score: Never (0 points); Seldom (5 points); Frequently (10 points) 2. Does your man use qualifiers like “sometimes,” “generally,” or “to the best of my knowledge” when he talks to you? When people insert the phrase “to the best of my knowledge” before their answer, it means they have no idea what they’re talking about. Qualifiers are exactly that; they qualify what the person says and give them “loopholes” or escape clauses to avoid responsibility. Don’t trust ‘em or the people who use ‘em! Score: Never (0 points); Seldom (5 points); Frequently (10 points) 3. Does he tend to expand contractions? When “I didn’t stay up all night surfing those triple-X websites” becomes “I did not stay up all night surfing those triple-X websites,” with an indignant look thrown in for good measure, it could be a signal he’s hiding some dirty laundry — or dirty Internet habits. Score: Never (0 points); Seldom (5 points); Frequently (10 points) 4. Does his voice become more high-pitched when he’s explaining why he had to work late? Lying causes physical changes in a liar’s body. One of the most common changes is a tightening of the throat and vocal chords. The tighter the throat and vocal chords, the higher the pitch of the voice. Of course, blunt-force trauma to a guy’s nether regions as he sneaks into the apartment at three in the morning also causes physical changes in the body and vocal pitch, so be careful not to confuse the two. Score: Never (0 points); Seldom (5 points); Frequently (10 points) 5. Does he use pronouns instead of actual names, especially when he’s referring to your parents and closest friends? He might be trying to add some emotional distance to his lie. Or he’s a typical guy who always dwells in a vapor of distraction. Score: Never (0 points); Seldom (5 points); Frequently (10 points) 6. Does he frequently look away when he’s talking to you? Perhaps he’s afraid to show you his two-faced face. Or maybe he’s mesmerized by the waitress in the short skirt serving the table next to yours. Score: Never (0 points); Seldom (5 points); Frequently (10 points) 7. Does he clasp his hands together or interlock his fingers? It might be a sign he’s holding something back. Open hands are a traditional sign of honesty, dating back to a time when two strangers would show their palms on meeting to prove they weren’t packing heat. Score: Never (0 points); Seldom (5 points); Frequently (10 points) 8. Does he tap his foot or wave it about in the air if he’s sitting cross legged? Depending on how long you’ve been grilling him over why the vacuuming didn’t get done, this sign might simply indicate an urgent need for the bathroom. Or his unrealized desire to dance with the stars. Score: Never (0 points); Seldom (5 points); Frequently (10 points) 9. Does he drink anything he can get his mitts on? Frequent swallowing and heavy drinking can be a symptom of deceitfulness — or an unrealized desire to dance with the stars. Score: Never (0 points); Seldom (5 points); Frequently (10 points) 10. Does his smile seem insincere? Remember how your mom used to say it was easier to smile than frown? Well, Momma was right! It takes only two muscles (the zygomaticus major muscles extending from the cheekbones to the corners of the lips) to paste one on your face. This also makes smiles easy to fake, so look for a lack of movement of the wrinkle lines around your guy’s eyes. It’s classic tell of a bald-faced liar … or Botox injections. Score: Never (0 points); Seldom (5 points); Frequently (10 points) Tally Your Score: 0 - 50 Points: Congratulations! The heart of your relationship is beating strong! You and your guy likely have an open pathway of communication. 50 - 75 Points: Exercise caution! Your relationship’s ticker is working hard, but it’s not in the danger zone — yet. 75 - 100 Points: Watch out! Cardiac arrest may be just around the corner. Your relationship needs a steady diet of honesty — and oat bran. Conner O’Seanery is a self-admitted serial liar and an expert on detecting deception in any situation. Understanding The Different Home Loan Options Available

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carmen_Luna]Carmen Luna Different home loan options are available with different lenders and it is your choice to go for the one that suits your budget. Some of the traditional options available are the fixed rates, adjustable rates and the Jumbos. There are advantages of each of these types of home loan options. You have to compare the benefits of these for the type of home that you are going to purchase and then decide on the right type of home loan option. Day by day the interest rate fluctuates. Hence to get peace of mind you can go for the fixed rate home loan option. If you don’t have plans of moving out then you can go for a long term loan with a fixed rate. With this option you need not worry about the market rates that fluctuate quite often. Most of the people go for a 30-year period fixed rate. Some of the plans from Quicken also give you good rates for a 40-year period. If you plan to finish off the loan faster then you can go for a 10 year or a 15 year period. With this you end up paying less by the way of interest. With a fixed rate home loan the interest rate is constant for the whole period of the loan. Since the rate is fixed you pay a standard amount every month. This helps you to plan your expense accordingly. A person who wants to avoid the risks of increase interest rates and have a fixed income regularly is the right candidate for such fixed rate home loan. If you plan to pay your home loan for more than 10 years then it is better to go for a fixed rate home loan. This saves you a lot of money. With the adjustable rate home loan you can reduce your monthly payment during the initial years. Thereafter there is no guarantee that you might get that low interest rate. However if you wish to have more cash flow during the early years of home loan payment, you can go for an adjustable rate home loan. There are interest only options available in this type of loan. You can avail this option if you want further lower your monthly payment. People who buy property for investment are those who can get benefited by this method of payment. If you plan to own your home for yourself then this is not the option for you. In this type of home loan there are not penalties for pre-payment. However check with your lender for this. You can also refinance with this loan. There is a cap for interest adjustments in this type of home loan. Jumbo home loans are for those who want to take loans for over $417,000. Down payments are not required if the loan is between $650,000 and $1 million. There might be no penalties and documentation for getting these loans. When we say no documentation we mean to say that there is no need for income documentation. There are other types of loans available in the market that meets each and every individuals requirement. You have to approach a broker or the lender to get more details on the home loans available with them. Credit goes to the Dyenira Management Group Staff. Are Slimming Pills The Solution?

By Jo Wood It’s a sad fact of modern life that many people will do whatever it takes for them to lose weight. Unfortunately, this often results in extreme behaviors such as binging, purging, overdosing on laxatives or just not eating at all. These extreme eating habits, and the use of products such as slimming pills, can cause illness and permanent damage to the body. Theres no doubt that being constantly bombarded by glamorous media images gives many people an unrealistic idea of an attractive body shape. However it’s also true that our modern western diet is very unhealthy, leading to a huge increase in obesity levels. So weight loss is actually necessary for many people in order to improve their health. Many turn to slimming pills for a quick fix. There are two main problems with this. First, many diet pills cause unwanted side effects, let alone raising concerns about putting more chemicals into your body. Plus, once you stop taking the slimming pills, what happens? For most people, they put any lost weight straight back on again. The long term solution is to make a few simple changes to your diet, and increase your levels of exercise. One change that’s simple to make is to have four smaller meals each day, rather than three larger ones. Odd as it might sound, it actually helps your metabolism function more effectively by eating more frequent, smaller meals. Some nutritionists recommend as many as six small meals a day. Slimming pills, on the other hand, generally work by suppressing your appetite. So instead of keeping your metabolism ticking over regularly throughout the day, it just ends up getting confused. Your body also needs a wide variety of vitamins and minerals for optimum health. You can’t get those by not eating because slimming pills have suppressed your appetite. Of course you probably need to do more than eat smaller meals more frequently if you want to lose weight. You also need to reduce saturated fats, eat healthier foods from the main food groups, and increase your level of exercise. Making these changes will help you lose weight healthily and keep it off for the long term, unlike slimming pills. Discover more about diet pills. FLSA Lawyers & FLSA Attorneys - Fair Labor Standards Act Lawsuits & Litigation

By Todd Going There is nothing fair about labor infractions and the millions of workers that labor laws are designed to protect deserve more. When FLSA standards are ignored or manipulated, hard-working Americans pay the price. The Fair Labor Standards Act is a law that protects workers and remains one of the most revolutionary pieces of legislation ever enacted by any government anywhere in the world. At the time the bill was passed in 1938, workers had few rights available to protect them from the sometimes nefarious motives of their employers, but the FLSA set down into codified law the national minimum wage, overtime pay regulations, and also clarified the manner in which children could be employed. Unfortunately, as the years went by, the FLSA underwent a number of changes, in order to reflect the vast and profound changes in American industry during and after the Second World War. Over the intervening decades, American industry shifted from production to information management and service technologies, and many provisions in the FLSA became outdated and pointless. Managing information needed a different kind of employee, a worker who was trained in many technical and service fields but not necessarily college or higher educated. This meant that federal law needed to change, but not all changes were welcome. The changes enacted to the FLSA in 2004 were long overdue, but unfortunately many of the revisions and updates to the law were seen by some as a new way to exploit and victimize a new group of previously protected workers. Most management and administrative positions are not protected under the overtime pay provisions of the FLSA, and thus many unscrupulous businesses reclassify technical and service people into management positions, regardless of whether they have any executive or administrative authority. This reclassification means that these unethical businesses can now force these hardworking people to labor longer hours without the benefit of overtime compensation. The FLSA sets standards by which an employee can be judged to be administrative, executive, or managerial, but few employees have more than a casual understanding of the law, and these dishonest companies count on the ignorance of their employees to keep them acquiescent and poor. Although companies have a good deal of discretion to manage their employees, but they must be in accordance with the standards and provisions of the FLSA. Violating the law is not only a criminal offense; it disrespects every hardworking American and honest company who respects their employees. Deceiving the Federal Government and lying to employees can cost extensive penalties and heavy fines as well. Labor laws are extremely complicated and confusing. Illness - A Family’s Response

By Dr. Jackie Black When a family member becomes ill, whether for a week, for a few months, or with a long-term or terminal illness, each individual has a reaction and the entire family unit has a reaction. Frequently I am asked by family members and by those who are ill, how to talk to others in the family. Illness deeply affects everyone in the family in many ways. Role reorganization is a healthy process that a family undergoes in response to the illness or death of one of its members. If we think about the family being a system for a moment, the entire system is thrown into disequilibrium. Roles and responsibilities must now be reassigned to re-establish the equilibrium, that is, to bring back balance and harmony to the family system and each individual. Using each family’s values, beliefs, and ways of coping, they must re-evaluate and re-establish the rules, communication patterns, family expectations, and behavior patterns that will keep the family operating in a stable manner. It is very useful for each person to talk about how the person’s illness is affecting him or her and discuss the idea and necessity of role reorganization for their entire family. Everyone in the family must be included in all the conversations. No side or private conversations should occur until each person in the family is talking about the issues and working together to find mutually acceptable solutions. There is a good chance for success if communications between all the family members are open and honest. Each person’s needs must be recognized as being legitimate and important. Each individual must, with mindfulness and intention, make a commitment to the survival of the family. It is vital to include all siblings, no matter what their ages, because they deserve an opportunity to talk about how they have been affected and they have a right and a responsibility to assume some new roles. It is also essential to include the person who is ill so he or she can feel reassured that they are still an important family member and can know how the family is adjusting itself to accommodate the illness. This will help the ill person be reassured that his or her needs can and will be met and that no one will be over-burdened because of him/her. In the event one of the family members is unable or unwilling to participate, I encourage the other members to set firm boundaries and communicate directly what they are willing and able to do. Often people are in a reacting mode and not thinking very clearly. When approached with some information and a plan, people often welcome discussions and easily consider alternatives to this painful dilemma. Please remember, one person’s illness affects everyone in that person’s life; friends, family members, co-workers, and even neighbors and business associates. If you are the ill person and have the presence of mind and the physical strength, provide the space for everyone to talk to you and each other about their thoughts, feelings, and reactions to your illness. If you are a friend or a family member, please create the time and space for everyone to talk about what has happened. Be sure to include the ill person. Nobody ever wants to ‘bring it up’ and upset anybody else; everyone is thinking about what is happening and everyone is already upset. Have the courage to tell the truth in the presence of those who are special to you and face the pain and sadness that is making its home in your heart. Remember, only YOU can make it happen! The Financial Industry: Your Rights as a Consumer

By Benedict Rohan The financial services industry is highly regulated and companies selling financial products or advice must adhere to a stringent set of guidelines set out by the industrys independent regulatory body, the Financial Services Authority. The FSA has wide-ranging rule-making, enforcement and investigatory powers and your rights as a consumer are well protected. The aim of the FSA is to promote efficient, orderly and fair markets and to help retail consumers achieve a fair deal (source: www.fsa.gov.uk/pages/About/What/index.shtml), and it has four principle objectives: to promote confidence in the industry, to increase public understanding of the financial system, to protect consumers and to reduce financial crime. Companies must be authorised by the FSA in order to sell financial products and services. This includes banks, building societies, investment companies, mortgage providers, insurance firms, financial advisors and pensions sellers. They must comply with the guidelines set out by the FSA in its Handbook. Broadly speaking, the rules that financial companies must follow are to: be trustworthy and financially secure provide clear information to help you make financial decisions, such as key facts and key features of products and services give professional, competent advice have clear and straightforward procedures for making a complaint inform you about compensation methods You can find out whether a company is authorised by the FSA by using the Check Service on the FSAs website. If you have a complaint about a financial product or service you have bought, you should contact the company in the first instance. If the complaint isnt resolved to you satisfaction here, you should then contact an independent complaint scheme such as the Financial Ombudsman Service. The Ombudsman will carry out an impartial investigation into the complaint and will attempt to resolve it. You dont have to accept the Ombudsmans findings, but if you do they are legally binding on both you and the company with whom you have a complaint. If you dont agree with the findings and want to take the matter further, the next step is to take your case to court. Banks and building societies also have their own voluntary code of conduct for promoting best practice and ensuring that customers are treated fairly and reasonably. Managed by the Banking Code Standards Board, its known simply as the Banking Code and most major high street banks have signed up to it. Products and services covered by the Code include bank accounts, overdrafts, loans, credit cards and foreign exchanges. Some of the key rules to which the participating banks and building societies agree to adhere are: providing clear information on products and services and how they work ensuring that promotional material and advertising are accurate and not misleading keeping customers informed by sending regular statements and telling customers about changes to terms and conditions, charges or interest rates acting promptly and fairly to deal with complaints when things go wrong using safe and secure systems and keeping personal information confidential promoting the Banking Code and ensuring that employees understand and abide by it The Banking Code Standards Board isnt able to investigate individual complaints on behalf of consumers, but its helpdesk can provide useful information and support. If you have a grievance that youve been unable to sort out with the company concerned, you should take it to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
