Understanding Bipolar Disorder

By Anne Wolski Bipolar disorder, once known as manic depression, is an illness where the sufferer alternatively experiences both extreme joy and terrible desolation. Medication and therapy are generally used to stabilize the condition. Sufferers are often detached, introverted, and emotionally sensitive even though during the manic phase their behaviour takes on a very extroverted form. In some cases the condition may have a fanatical or religious element. This is a severe mental disturbance and an affective psychosis. It is sometimes referred as bipolar disorder psychosis. Sometimes a sufferer tries to hide emotions such as anxiety or shyness and, in so doing, he or she becomes carried away with their feelings. Bipolar disorder does not appear to be caused by stress itself but can be affected by outside tensions or abnormal attitudes in their upbringing. It is thought that these things may stimulate the area of the brain which produces chemicals, thus creating the mood swings experienced in bipolar disorder. The cause of bipolar disorder remains inconclusive but it is thought that a deficiency in the hormonal means that regulate the balance of emotions may be a contributing factor. The brain produces two chemicals that regulate mood and these are serotonin and norepinephrine. Serotonin, if insufficient, may cause general mood instabilities. Norepinephrine, if in low supply, can cause depression. If it is excessive, it can produce mania. There are two forms of mania associated with bipolar disorder. These are hypomania and hypermania. Hypomania is the form of mania when it is not excessive and hypermania refers to the mania when it is very extreme when the patient is in a highly frantic and euphoric state. Usually, when a patient is in a manic state, they talk excessively and at high speed. They flit from one subject to another and become very easily distracted. In extreme cases, the patient may experience delusions and hallucinations or act violently. They may also become confused and disoriented. As well as manic periods, the patient may go into a severe depressive state. This is characterized by fatigue, despondency, and extreme sadness. When the depression is at its most severe, the patient may become silent and motionless. One of the real risks during this stage is that of suicide. Manic and depressive moods often arise without warning and last for some time- even weeks or months if no treatment is given. Living with someone in either the manic or depressive stage is not easy although they are usually not dangerous to others. However, they may become a danger to themselves if not treated. Conventional drug therapy for bipolar disorder is generally used to help with both the depression and the manic episodes. Tricyclic antidepressants control the depressive states and sedatives and tranquilizers control the manic occurrences. Lithium carbonate is commonly used as it stabilizes both of the mood swings. Bipolar disorder is still very much a mystery but people who suffer from the disease have learned to recognize the early signs of mood swings. This helps them to cope by taking the necessary medication or other actions. This helps them to lead relatively normal lives. Volumetrics Adverse Events - Two Potential Outcomes

By Michael Smith, MD Adverse Events with Volumetrics Dr. Barbara Rolls is a well respected nutritionist in the United States. Volumetrics reflects her passion and expertise. It is a balanced and nutritious diet that is easy to follow. The meaning of the term "Volumetrics" has been around for sometime. I can remember my Dad talking about eating foods with high "moisture" content. The concept of food volume as a means to lose weight quickly fell out of favor and was replaced by fat content. Just within the last 2-3 years food volume has made a comeback. It is important for consumers to understand that there are only a few clinical trials for weight experts to draw conclusions from and make appropriate recommendations. For instance, it is my opinion that losing weight is not your problem. I prefer to study why you gained weight and look for solutions to keep it from happening again. That's why I make many references to muscle. As you age, you lose muscle and gain weight. I judge a weight loss product from that perspective: does the product cause muscle loss? If so, that is not a healthy weight loss product. I recommend that you find a professional you like and stick with her. As long as "balanced nutrition" is in some way apart of her philosophy, you'll be in good hands. This is a good diet despite two potential problems I discuss in this article. Some may agree and some may disagree, but that is the reason for this article--debate and exchange of ideas. Volumetrics is not New Volumetrics utilizes food volume (water content) as a way to restrict calories. In general, foods with high water content are less energy dense. Filling up on high volume, low energy dense foods to help you lose weight has two potential problems. Satiety may occur too early during feeding. This has two outcomes... Some dieters will begin snacking or binge eating A few dieters will end up on a Very Low Calorie Diet - potentially too low. Dieters might completely eliminate carbohydrate intake. A diet that restricts an entire food group is not a healthy diet. Every diet has potential problems and outcomes it would like to avoid. My article is a discussion of two possible outcomes of the diet. If they can be avoided, this is a good diet. Volumetrics is NOT a variation of the Atkins Diet. Dr. Rolls outlines a weight loss plan that if followed properly will lead to fat loss. Weight loss by losing fat and keeping muscle - that's a good diet. It's Just Water The easy way to critique the diet is to suggest that drinking water with each meal is practicing Volumetrics. I actually do drink 2-3 glasses of water with each meal and it does keep me from over-feeding. I think it's fair to say, that the water content of food plays a bigger role in Volumetrics than fat and fiber. This means that weight loss is from calorie restriction. Losing weight by eating less will cause your body to lose both fat and muscle. This is not the optimal way to lose weight. The only acceptable mechanism for weight reduction is by utilizing stored fat. Muscle should be preserved. Calorie restriction by itself, is not an ideal way to lose weight. Losing fat and not muscle requires the right combination and ratio of fat to protein, not just calorie restriction. Dr. Rolls said, "Foods with a high water content have a big impact on satiety. But you can't simply drink lots of water, which quenches thirst without sating hunger." She continues, "Why is water so helpful in controlling calories? It dilutes the calories in a given amount of food." Actually, this might be another problem and not a benefit. With diluted calories, volume is up and you become full before consuming an appropriate amount of calories, vitamins, and minerals. Eating the correct ratio of fat to protein is critical in this type of diet, if you want to prevent weight gain. A diet's primary purpose is to set up an internal environment that slows the process of gaining weight with age. Severe restriction of calories is a bad approach to preventing weight gain. There is no doubt in my mind that you can eat less and feel full. Food has volume, mainly from it's water content. Weight loss in this manner really comes down to restricting calories to a very low level. Rarely does that result in healthy weight loss. Remember, a good diet prevents weight gain by preserving muscle. Active muscle tissue is your best protection from gaining weight. In short, lose weight by losing fat and keep it off by preserving muscle. "Volumetrics will teach you how to consume fewer calories while enjoying a satisfying portion of food." Introduction to Dr. Rolls new book, Volumetrics. How far individuals push the calorie restriction is something to watch. If you consume fewer calories without the correct ratio of macronutrients, you will lose muscle. If you lose muscle, the diet failed at its primary objective of preventing weight gain. Volumetrics is not designed to severely restrict calories. I just recognize it as a potential problem. Volumetrics - A Clear Path to the Atkins Diet This is not a potential or possible outcome, it's real and personal for me. I tried a volumetric diet a few years ago. I don't remember how or when it happened but eventually I was eating nothing but meat. If this happens to a significant number of dieters on Volumetrics, the diet would no longer be healthy. Weight loss the Atkins' way involves to some extent muscle loss. Despite the high level of circulating amino acids in the bloodstream of an Atkins' dieter, the ketosis induces a catabolic state that rapidly breaks down muscle. This state of targeted catabolism has lasting effects beyond the initial ketosis that started it. This is a significant problem for Volumetrics. Volumetrics - One Last Point Volumetrics is a nutritious diet. It has a couple of potential problems but all diets do. The publisher said it pretty well, "Volumetrics is designed to help you lose weight safely, effectively, and permanently without feeling hungry or deprived... ...Dr. Barbara Rolls, who holds the endowed Guthrie Chair in Nutrition at Pennsylvania State University, has spent more than twenty years researching hunger and obesity and the factors that determine how we eat." My last point starts with the following paragraph from Dr. Rolls book: "Satiety is the missing ingredient in weight management. Cut calories by simply eating less, and you'll feel hungry and deprived. You may be able to stick to such a diet for the short term, but to become successful at lifelong weight management, you'll need an eating pattern that lets you feel full with fewer calories." I agree completely. But I have one point to add. As long as you continue to eat nutrient poor food (processed foods without vitamins and minerals), the drive to over-feed will not stop. Your body will continue to over-feed to get the vitamins and minerals it needs to function. Conclusion Volumetrics is a balanced nutritious diet If followed properly, healthy weight loss can be achieved Be mindful of severely restricting calories and avoid starting the Atkins Diet Article by Dr. Michael A. Teakwood Garden Furniture Can Last a Lifetime

By Jennifer Akre Premium teak garden furniture is the best choice for your outside living space for many reasons. Teak has a natural beauty that cannot be compromised by outdoor elements. It is the perfect choice for garden furniture because of its water resistant qualities. Even if you do not care regularly for your teakwood it can still last up to 75 years and this cannot be said about most outdoor furnishings today. Buying beautiful teakwood garden furniture is an investment that can honestly be passed down to your children as heirlooms. Indonesian teak garden furniture is a great place to start for your outdoor improvement project. Dining tables with matching chairs are very useful additions to your patio. Once you decide on the size of your table you can choose chairs with or without brass hardware. Brass is used in the construction of folding teak chairs because it will never rust. This makes the chairs easier to recline, fold and unfold, and can also help create a more intricate design. Teakwood chairs can also be made without hardware and they are just as durable. Teak patio furniture is the best investment for your outdoor garden and living space. Teakwood is very simple to care for because the high oil content of the wood makes it very resistant to the elements and many owners leave their furniture outdoors all year. Teak oil can be used once a month to retain its luster and you can find it at your local home improvement center at minimal cost. It can be applied with a soft cloth and rubbed into the wood to produce a natural shine. You should oil your teakwood if it is outside on a regular basis to keep the nice light brown color. But, if you choose not perform a monthly application to your teakwood it will still retain is strong structure. Teakwood that is not maintained with teak oil will turn a beautiful silvery gray giving it a more rustic appeal. Furniture that is kept indoors and is oiled a few times a year will maintain a light brown color. The tight grain and high oil content of teakwood make it resistant to the forces of Nature that can destroy other outdoor furniture. It can withstand wind, rain, and sunlight without warping, shrinking or rotting. Lawn furniture can make a dramatic improvement to your outdoor space when choosing furniture made from teak wood. You may start off with a simple teak garden bench and then add to your outdoor collection when both you and your budget are ready. But whatever you choose for your teak garden furniture it will be an investment that will last you a lifetime. Jennifer Akre, owner of numerous teak bench and teak patio furniture websites, makes it easy to find fabulous Teak Outdoor Furniture and Outdoor Teak Furniture collections. How to Maintain Your Business and Your Romantic Relationship without Losing Either

By Donna Gunter I'll be the first to admit I'm the "Donna-come-lately" in this game of simultaneously managing a business and a romantic relationship. When I was married the first time around at age 26, I worked in higher education administration and was completely and totally devoted to my job -- not necessarily to the exclusion of my marriage -- but for many years my marriage and my relationship took a back seat to my job. Big mistake. That issue and a host of other reasons led to the dissolution of my marriage and the finalization of my divorce after almost 10 years of marriage in 1999. I went for two full years without dating, as I needed to grieve the relationship and heal myself and come to terms with all of my issues surrounding my marriage and divorce before deciding to put my toe again into the dating pool and foist all of these hangups on some unsuspecting guy. This aspect of my healing went pretty well, although I'll have to admit it took probably 3 years or so after my initial separation to fully work through all the anger I had about the relationship and the divorce. I began dating again and vowed that things would be different this time. I discovered, however, that dating had changed dramatically in the 13 years or so that I'd been absent from the dating scene, and that I still had alot to learn about being a good partner in a romantic relationship, as well as in figuring out what I wanted in a romantic partner. I saw the good, bad, and ugly sides of men, kissed alot of frogs, and learned a great deal about myself and what I really wanted during my journey. Synchronicity occurs when you're ready and open to receive what you truly want. For me, that occurred last fall when I met the man I had been looking for all of my life, Eric. For me, it was love almost at first sight, but I knew by our second date that I had never had this degree of compatibility with anyone I had ever dated before -- not even my ex-husband, and I had married him! Our relationship is still in its infancy, although we both feel like we've been together and known each other forever. Perhaps we have in another life, if you believe in reincarnation..... Here are some things I've learned through the school of hard knocks that's helping me maintain this relationship, as well as run a business, without losing either: 1. Put your partner and the relationship first. Running a business can be a 24/7 job, but the old adage about "no one ever says on their deathbed that they wished they'd spent more time at the office" is true. Eric and I make time for each other during the day, despite working different schedules (he works many night and weekend shifts, and I run my business during the weekday business hours). If he's at work, we manage to talk at least twice for short periods during his 12-hour shift, and if he's home during the day when I'm working at home, we try and eat one meal together. At a minimum we drop into each other's home offices for several quick smooches or hugs or quick "how are you doing" conversations. In the past he's expressed to me his concerns that our relationship is interfering with my business. I've told him that he's right -- it is -- and that because he's in my life, I've had to start thinking about my business differently and work in it differently than I did as a single person. I don't work the long hours that I used to work before he came into my life. It takes me longer to get things done, but it's a sacrifice that I'm willing to make. Businesses come and go, but finding a soulmate is VERY hard work. 2. Your partner needs to be your best friend. Eric is the one with whom I share everything. I may not always like what he says, but I respect his opinion. When I was married, I somehow got off track with my ex in terms of sharing my hopes and dreams and what I wanted in life, and shared those exclusively with my best female friend. My ex was left out of the loop, and I made many decisions about our relationship on my own, after talking about the issue with my best female friend, not my ex-husband. Having 3 people in a relationship (2 spouses and a best friend) is one too many. Sharing information with a best friend is fine, but don't do it to the exclusion of your romantic partner, if you want your relationship to survive. 3. Create a calendar consisting of free days, business development days, and profit-generating days. I have mapped out on my calendar my free days (weekends, days off, holidays, and vacation days), my business development days (when I write, speak, conduct marketing activities or pursue strategic alliances) and profit-generating days (when I'm working directly with clients). This has been an exercise in extreme discipline for me, as the temptation is always there to do some type of work on my free days. However, in the last year, I've made myself keep my free days free, as I need that time to get away from my business and have fun and recharge. Since Eric has come into my life, we've set aside some of that time for date nights or weekend vacations when he's doesn't have to work on a weekend. His impish side comes out on his days off during the week when he tries to lure me out of my office to go out and goof off with him. I've succumbed to his whims on occasion, but haven't quite gotten my business to the point of of having it run successfully without me. That's my next goal -- to have more flexibility in my business so that it's not so dependent on my presence in my office. 4. Share your business highs and lows with your partner. Every time I have a big business "win", Eric is the first to hear about it. When something doesn't go the way I'd hoped, I tell him first. My business is important to me, as is Eric's job to him, so we both make it a point to ask how the day has gone for the other, and sit and listen patiently to the good and bad portions of each other's day. As we're both problem-solvers, it's difficult for each of us to sometimes simply let the other one vent, as we're already thinking of solutions to whatever situation is at hand. Sometimes one of us has to say, "Do you just want to vent and have me listen?" when one of us shifts into the unwanted problem-solving mode. 5. Make time for each other. When you have opposing work schedules, as Eric and I have, and add mandatory overtime that Eric has to work frequently during the year, we may see little of each other over the course of a week. We've both gotten good at sensing that we're losing track of each other, and requesting a "date night" so we can talk and play and catch up. 6. Never go to bed angry. By far, this is the hardest lesson I've had to learn. When I was married, I would get angry at my ex and give him the silent treatment for days because I knew it drove him crazy. Usually by day 3 or so he would crack, and we'd make up. Now that I look back on this, I realize how immature and juvenile this way of fighting is, so the silent treatment is out as a way of fighting in my current relationship. Eric and I have had our share of spats and disagreements, and I'm almost always the first one to wave the white flag for a truce and an end to the argument, usually within the course of an hour or so. Life is just too short to continue to fight in stupid ways, and it's hard to regroup in a relationship if you let something fester overnight. 7. Forgive each other for being human. It took me a long time to acknowledge that I'm not perfect, and even longer to figure out that no romantic relationship is perfect, either. Give up the notion of perfection and accept each other as you are. One of my great faults in romantic relationships has always been the need to "fix" my partner. I'd see the potential in a guy and stay in a relationship long after it was dead, under the guise of, "Well, if you'd only do this and this and this, you'd be so great, because you have so much potential." Oprah said something along the lines of, "believe what they tell you the first time they tell it." We all bring our quirks, our baggage, and our eccentricities into relationships, and do and say things that drive our partners completely nuts. Remember that forgiveness is divine, and that it'll only be a matter of time before you need forgiveness. 8. Say "I love you" every day...and mean it. I feel so lucky and so fortunate to have finally met the man of my dreams. I always thought that often-quoted line, "You complete me," that Renee Zellweger's character says to Tom Cruise's character in the movie, Jerry Maguire, was so hokey. However, now that I've found someone with whom I'm so compatible, I've discovered a whole new meaning and nuance to that line. I tell Eric that I love him at least once each and every day, and then go on to tell him some trait or some action he's taken that makes me fall in love with him all over again. Being in love and running a business don't have to be mutually exclusive. Both endeavors are hard work, and if you forget that point, you can lose one or the other in a flash. Take time to nourish both your business and your romantic relationship, and discover how having both in your life will make your life all the richer. Where To Find Ethnic Food Recipes

By Andrew Krause Most home cooks at some time or another find themselves getting interested in ethnic cuisine. The impetus might come from their heritage maybe grandma was a German immigrant or grandpa came from Vietnam. Or it could just be simple cook's curiosity. All of us get tired of cooking the same old recipes over and over, and decide to move beyond, frequently into ethnic food recipes. However, and this is especially important if you don't already know anything about the particular cuisine you're after, it can be hard to figure out if the recipes you're cooking are authentic, or are even worth trying. You might pick an Asian recipe that sends you out hunting exotic ingredients for three days only to find that either the recipe was written poorly or the flavor is something you just can't stomach. Unless you want to sink a lot of money into cookbooks, your best source of recipe information is going to be the Internet. However, searching for Internet recipes can be fraught with peril. How do you know this recipe will work? Do you have any clue what it tastes like? Do you maybe have a picture of what the finished dish should look like? This is where sites that allow user reviews of recipes are invaluable. We foodies are a verbose bunch, forever ready to share good recipes and tips and warn others away from the bad ones. On sites such as Allrecipes or Cooks.com, you'll find ethnic food recipes with hundreds of reviews from users. Often, these reviews will include possible ingredient substitutions, problems inherent in the preparation and possible solutions and all sorts of other great information. It's very similar to having a kitchen full of cooks ready to teach and advise you at all times. While you might not want to trust just one or two reviews, you can feel fairly safe when you see certain ethnic food recipes have been cooked successfully by dozens of people. Pick the recipe, read the comments and forge ahead! Signtronix Style Design - Top 10 Sign Design Tips

By David Evarts I am amazed every day I drive down the street and look at the same outdoor advertising graphic design mistakes repeated over and over. Business owners trying to make a living with a street-side presence that barley commands attention. There are two scenarios that I see on a regular basis. A potential customer walks into a custom sign shop and indicates their budget. The sign shop owner is weak, afraid of losing a potential sale, so he delivers a sign product designed to fit the proposed cost. With some simple education style selling the sign shop could have sold a product that would have made more money, for his shop, and the customer. Another customer walks into the sign shop with a layout, or design concept that stinks. Again, fear of losing the customer causes the sign manufacturer to deliver the useless sign. Money down the drain. Here are some key design elements that I have learned over 15 years in the outdoor advertising industry. 1. Remember that potential customers of all backgrounds and ages are looking at your business from a moving vehicle, in traffic, day and night. They must be able to see and read your outdoor advertising easily. Don't attempt to sell them with information on the sign - save that information until they are in your business. 2. The correct design and layout of your sign is critical to its effectiveness. Crowding the sign with too much text makes it impossible to read from a car, or at a distance. Therefore, the fewer words the better. Use the age-old adage - K.I.S.S. method - Keep It Simple, Son. 3. Understand the concept of First Read. There should be a focal point located on the sign that will have impact and command attention. Ideally, the first read should incorporate Branding elements like a large graphic, or your company logo. 4. Your sign is your first impression with the mobile market, and first impressions are lasting impressions. Your outdoor advertising must project the positive image you want the public to have of your business. Potential customers will judge the inside of your business by how it looks on the outside. 5. Many owners mistakenly think of a sign as merely a device that identifies the business. What they fail to realize is that over half of all new retail sales are a result of impulse buys. People see, shop and buy. If your outdoor advertising is ineffective, it will cost much more in lost sales then the entire cost of a good sign. 6. Your outdoor advertising must have visual impact. It must make your products or services, and your location, easy to remember. 7. Make sure the colors are used in contrasting patterns. Green on blue is not readable, whereas black on white is extremely visible. 8. If you have several colors in a graphic, stay away from multi-colored lines of text or words (they will compete with the colors in your graphic). Black text is better. 9. Ideally, the design and the colors of your location or building should reinforce the design and colors of your sign (or vice versa). Color is probably the easiest and most cost-effective device for this coordination of design for business identification. 10. "White-space". This is the surface area of a sign's face that is left uncovered by either text or graphics. The proper amount of white-space is just as important for quick readability as are graphics, text and colors. In fact, 30% to 40% of the sign's face area should be left as white-space for optimal readability. 2007 RightNow Communications SIGNTRONIX Corporate Office 1445 W. Depression Suffering

By Robert Baird The 'experts' have tried to evaluate me as a sufferer of this but found no such evidence or behavior. The same was true for all other mental or medical conditions, so they think 'witch' covers my condition in life; because I refuse to participate in the materially managed environment any more. We will not explore the horrors of the current forms of Inquisition in great detail in this book as it relates to me. That would definitely be too serious and intense, as I would explain society's role in tortures such as I witness all around me every day. I have been thwarted in devious gambits by those who have something even worse than the strait-jacket as we have seen Drs Breggin and Cohen describe in 'Science'. They call it (appropriately) 'pharmacological lobotomies'. ECT is even more disgusting and joins Ritalin in a campaign which social forces are developing in this control paradigm. It seems relevant to point out enough of the matter of my experience so that you will know you are getting it pretty close to what they say when they use the phrase 'the horses mouth'. Even the pharmacological and psychiatric conglomerate acknowledges the physical elements of depression. Some are cluing in to nutrition and massage or simple caring. The effects of education and alienation are massive, but bad parenting and the lack of enabling nutritive support in early life establish character and behavior traits that stubbornly resist real therapeutic methods. These obsessions often are far too time-consuming for high-paid 'professionals' to offer assistance - so we just drug and deceive! This medical model as some call it makes a great deal of money and keeps the public at large thinking something humane is going on in the life of the care-givers and victims of a society without true spiritual awareness and far too little compassion. The buzz words and catchy phrases like informed consent are not anything more than deceit, as they still give lobotomies. In one case they did it without informing the person who just died in 2005. Francis Mark Mondimore writes a book called 'Depression, The Mood Disease' updated in 1993 by Johns Hopkins University that presents the lies of this machine that Ivan Illich (in 'Limits To Medicine') identified as mechanistic and over-professionalized' in the mid 70s.Here is the overstatement of the century from its inside flap: "The revised 'Depression, the Mood Disease' tells readers exactly what they need to know about the causes, symptoms, and treatment of depression: *How antidepressant drugs were discovered, how they work, and with what side effects. {I'm biting my tongue!} *What Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and panic attacks are, and how they are treated. *How electro-convulsive therapy has changed for the better--and why it now works for up to 90% of those treated. {And all the professions involved in continuing to provide this fearsome horror that is necessary to repeat as it continues frying brain cells. Now randomly due to a drug cocktail, so that people's libido and zest is burned out too.} *How the special problems of depression in children and older persons are handled. *How to deal with a depressed friend or family member. *How such disorders as hormonal imbalance and even lead poisoning can 'mimic' the symptoms of depression. *Why depression is sometimes misdiagnosed as 'PMS', drug abuse, or Alzheimer's disease..." (2) The future holds promises and terrors galore in the application of 'easy' answers like drugs developed for specific genetic make-ups and nanites to monitor and deliver targeted drugs or shocks to the system in order to make us behave as we should. The ever-increasing 'big brother' that allows the growth industries associated with the management of people will lead to full employment if we allow it to continue down the current path. There will only be one benefit as the unemployable grow in number and the employment roles show full employment. The statistics will show the economy is productive and there is little unemployment or reason to worry about an economic depression. That is the end of the excerpt from my encyclopedia. I will be including some other more recent writings as we proceed. I had returned from the Caribbean and a failed business experience in Mexico and Belize in the month of March 1998. My last wife and I had purchased a yacht, which we hoped to be able to build a party boat/tourist business around. My wife had named the boat 'Champagne Dreams' after the motto of Robin Leach's show 'The Rich and the Famous'. It was her idea that we put a Jacuzzi on the front deck, of this 47 foot fiberglass yacht that we purchased in Fort Lauderdale, and our partner (Captain Crunch) Jerry had taken with me to Cancun. His nickname had not been established until we were leaving Key West. He destroyed the fueling station of the marina while hitting three other boats. We were still married though it was never a real marriage as most people think of it. The relationship was already complicated with another man named David. It is not the purpose of this book to try to describe the trials and tribulations of a relationship between myself and a young Vietnamese exotic dancer who had been one of the 'boat 'people'. Suffice it to say there were many exciting times that had lead me to the point where I was ready to leave this world before I even met her. I had been a self-made millionaire at the age of thirty. My travels and business had allowed me to meet some of the most interesting people. By any standard of measurement most would agree I had enjoyed life FULLY. My interest in psychology due to having grown up with a schizophrenic mother had long before gotten into the realm of Eastern mysticism and parapsychology. My wife was just twenty-two and I was forty six years old. We had gone to Cancun in early September of 1997 to further research a stele that I had found at Chichen Itza four years before with my previous wife. This event had ended with my being thrown off the site, and having to sign a document giving the Mexican authorities the right to throw me in a Mexican prison, without any recourse to the courts and Canadian law. This is truly a story of oppression of the Mayan and native people of Central America that includes a deceit of history which is IMMENSE! We had been doing a non-invasive charcoal rubbing of this 'stele' (stone for heavenly worship, or library in stone). It had been painted over twice and it seemed the white surface would have made the pictures provide insufficient clarity. So we had some paper we were using over the stone to capture the alphabet that had not 'come out' in the previous photos I had taken four years earlier when the granite 'rock' had its original shiny surface. This alphabet I believe confirms the work of Col. Churchward, the author of 'The Lost Continent of Mu', who documents the Cara-Maya language is the translational medium through which the Greek alphabet on the other side of the 'stele' tells the story of the destruction of the civilization that originally colonized South America some sixty thousand years earlier. I believe Col. Churchward would agree with my statement that the original colonization had started during the Riis-Wurm geologic Ice Age, and was finalized during the last Ice Age; if he had the benefit of recent geologic and archaeologic evidence. A fellow researcher and good friend named Brenda found this in Islam and Sufism which applies to my personal quest. Dear Brenda: Was this the result of Jeffrey mentioning the Language of the Birds is the Language of the Bards and the alchemist (like this person) Fulcanelli? This whole thing is very much from the Keltic Creed. I draw attention to these parts - "The Hoopoe says that it is better to lose your life than to languish miserably. The Hoopoe says, So long as we do not die to ourselves, and so long as we identify with someone or something, we shall never be free. The spiritual way is not for those wrapped up in exterior life.5 You will enjoy happiness if you succeed in withdrawing from attachment to the world. Whoever is merciful even to the merciless is favored by the compassionate. It is better to agree to differ than to quarrel. The Hoopoe warns the sixth bird against the dog of desire that runs ahead. Each vain desire becomes a demon, and yielding to each one begets a hundred others. The world is a prison under the devil, and one should have no truck with its master. The Hoopoe also says that if you let no one benefit from your gold, you will not profit either; but by the smallest gift to the poor you both benefit. She says, Good fortune will come to you only as you give. If you cannot renounce life completely, you can at least free yourself from the love of riches and honors.6 A pupil becomes afraid in facing a choice between two roads, but a shaikh advises getting rid of fear so that either road will be good. The Hoopoe tells the eighth bird that only if death ceases to exercise power over creatures would it be wise to remain content in a golden palace." (3) The 'experts' have tried to evaluate me as a sufferer of this but found no such evidence or behavior. The same was true for all other mental or medical conditions, so they think 'witch' covers my condition in life; because I refuse to participate in the materially managed environment any more. We will not explore the horrors of the current forms of Inquisition in great detail in this book as it relates to me... Losing Weight Doing NOTHING Special - Naturally!

By Anand Srinivasan Well weight loss is one thing that is prime in the minds of most youngsters today. The kind of work that most of us do leaves little or no time for exercizing. Dieting should be the last resort. After all, noone wants to end up anorexic. There are quite a few diet pills as well. But most of them are either believed to cause side effects or actually do so. One of the most trusted options for weight loss is green tea. However most of them end up with no results. Quite a few probabilities to figure out why the most trusted options is not working out for a few of them. Firstly, green tea is a herbal supplement and so gives you results only if you have it the correct format. To lose weight, green tea must be taken in an unsweetened format. Adding sugar to your tea defeats the whole purpose of having it as a weight losing beverage. It is not that taking sweetened green tea doesn't act, but sweetening actually neurtralizes the work done by the herbal green tea. So, it is best to take it unsweetened. You can lose upto 5-8 pounds in a week. But most of them find it difficult to actually take in unsweetened tea. And so use artificial sweeteners that add zero calories. Though this is not very counterproductive, it is better to check out on a few things before you go ahead with this format. Check if the artificial sweetner contains Aspartame. Green tea is an antioxidant and Aspartame when mixed with liquid at 37 degrees (our body temperature averages about that) turns into Formeldahyde (the same stuff in which cadavers are preserved. It's also in nail polish). Ever hear the saying that diet drinks keep you looking younger? It's not just a saying, it's true. Diet stuff usually contains Aspartame and Formeldahyde is a preservative. It preserves your body. So what ends up happening is that the antioxidant in Green Tea will keep trying to focus on flushing the remnants of the Formeldahyde more than working on everything else in your system. You won't really see the results as much as you should. But most other artifical sweetners contain sucralose (made when sugar molecules are "exploded" with chlorine (basically chlorine atoms substitute three of the hydrogyen-oxygen combos). When you use such sweeteners, the sweetening effect basically has no effect on the green tea's action and you might possibly see the expected results. Body Piercing, Is There Anything Wrong With It?

By David Kunstek When you spend a day at the mall, you see people with body piercings. Perhaps you see someone with a nose ring. Another may have a belly button ring. In fact, you may see people with some really crazy body piercing. Is there any reason that people should not have so many body piercings? When it all comes down to it, it is everyone's separate decision to be made, but we must ask, is there anything wrong with it, really? Body piercing is popular, especially among teens. Something that once started as earrings led to the piercing of many other body parts. Do you have your ears pierced? Is there something wrong with people who have their ears pierced? Many teens find body piercing to be a way of self expression and a way to rebel. Today, people get their noses, tongues, eye brows, belly buttons and even other places pierced. You can go into any jewelry store at the mall and find belly button and eye brow rings. The jewelry itself is not tacky or ugly, but can be very regular pieces. So, what makes body piercing so bad, then? People have preconceived notions about people who are different from them. When ladies started to get their ears pierced, that was taboo as well. As time goes on and things become more "normal" the preconceived notions about body piercings will go away as well. As long as the piercing is done properly, in a clean environment and is taken care of properly, then there are no adverse side effects to having body piercings. Again, they must be taken care of and cleaned properly though as infections can spread rapidly this way. So, the next time you are at that mall and see a group of girls walk by with belly button rings, think twice before you judge them. Consider why you don't like that eye brow ring on the boy who is taking your order's face. Think twice when judging others because as you judge them, they may be judging you right back! Wedding Dresses - Frequently Asked Questions

By Martin Smith Youve gotten engaged and have set the wedding date and now its time to get down to business. All the planning and decisions can be overwhelming to the most organized and practical bride-to-be. There is help out there for you. Below are some suggestions of how to go about buying your wedding dress. Q. How much time do I have before my wedding to look for my dress? You should begin looking for the dress as soon as possible after the date date is set. It could take you awhile to find the perfect dress. Once you do find it, there is likely to be alterations that need to be done and accessories to be bought. Q. Where can I look for a dress that offers a variety of styles at various prices? Look in bridal magazines. The choice of dresses will depend greatly on the time of year your wedding will take place, the type of wedding you are planning, and your budget. Q. Why do I need someone to come with me while I am looking for my wedding gown? The reason for having someone with you is for moral support and to help you decide whether a dress is a good style for you or not. Besides it can be fun shopping with someone else. Q. How much can I expect to put down on a deposit for my dress? You can expect to put down at least half of the total price of your dress. It is a good idea to pay this portion of your dress with a credit card. If goes something seriously wrong with the purchase you might be able to negotiate reimbursement through your credit card company. Q. I wear a size six dress but my wedding dress is a size 10, why is that? The wedding dress designers each use a different sizing chart and these sizes tend to be a bit larger than typical sizes. It is best to look at and/or buy a dress that fits. If you lose weight it is easier to take the dress in than it is to increase its size. Q. Do I need to have the things I will wear with my wedding dress when I go for a fitting? Yes have what you will be wearing with you when you go for fittings. The undergarments including a slip or hoop skirts size could be affected if you wear something different. You will want to have the same good fit on your big day as you do during fittings. Q. What should I look for in a wedding dress? When you are looking for a dress make sure the buttons are secure.Turn the dress inside out and inspect all seams. Make sure the stitching of the seams is solid and that there are no gaps in stitching. Check the Beading and appliques to be sure they well stitched. If the beads are glued on you might consider another dress as the beads could fall off. Q. How can I protect myself in the event something goes wrong with the purchase of my wedding dress? The best way is to pay the deposit for your dress with a credit card. This way if the deposit is non-refundable as is the case in most places, you might be able to go through the credit card company. Also make sure you get your purchase order in writing so that if there is difficulty you can refer to it. Q. Will I still be able to get a terrific dress if I am on a budget? Yes you should be able to get a terrific dress no matter what your budget is. Some of the well-known wedding dress sellers will hold $99 sales or basement sales. Also, dont just look at wedding dresses. Take a look at prom dresses. Designer knock-offs can be purchased at prices that are up to 50% less than the origin.
