Real Men: More than Sperm Donators - FamilyVision Column

By Daryl Green Tray is a hero among his peers. Tray has fathered nine children from nine different women at his high school. Instead of his behavior repelling other young ladies, Tray finds himself a babe magnet. Tray sees himself as a great father. While students see Tray as an American icon, adults see Trays attitude as both arrogant and embarrassing. Tray, however, thinks hes a real man. Introduction How do we define the nature of a man in America? A culture war exists between two generation, one generation armed with its traditional values and another generation with an anything goes mentality. Some would advocate that men are now irrelevant because todays women are self-significant. I heard one lady say that her babys daddy had never seen his sons in years. She explained that this man was simply a sperm donator. There are numerous cases to point at the lethargic ways of some men. On the contrary, all men are not sperm donates. Many are determining their significance in todays family structure. According to the 2005 Census Report, there are 66.3 million fathers in the United States. There are 26.5 million fathers in a traditional family environment (married couple with children under the age of 18). There are 2.3 million single fathers living with children under 18 years old, up from 393,000 in 1970. There are also approximately 98,000 stay-at-home dads in America. Unfortunately, everything is not a pleasure story. There are 4.6 million fathers who pay child support, representing 84 percent of child support providers. The Real Story Fathers in traditional families are more involved than several decades ago. According to some studies, members of Generation X and Y are more likely to be family-focused. For example, Generation X fathers spent more than an hour per day with children compared to Baby Boomer fathers. The impacts of the male influence in families may not be obvious. Does it really matter if a male is not a part of a childs life? Many people grewup with fathers whose primary role was as provider. The presence of a male figure in the home does impact children. Nationally syndicated columnist Leonard Pitts, Jr. wrote a book, Becoming Dad, where he surveys his tortured relationship with his abusive father. Pitts discusses how it affected his relationship with his own sons and daughters. He writes, My father made our lives hell. And yet, for all of that, he was one thing many other fathers were not: He was there. Obviously, fathers are imperfect and this has been amplified in our society. Future Outlook I find finds postmodern culture fueling this negativism. Obviously, we are being bombarded with negative concepts of fathers. We do not live in an era of Leave It to Beaver where dad knows best, and we have a caricature of Superman. My experience, however, is that many fathers of our era are trying to do the right things; however, it gets lost in the day-to-day drama of life. Fathers are necessary to achieve a healthy family balance even though they are not celebrated as such. Clearly, there are ample examples of deadbeat dads, abusers, and downright losers. But, if society buys into the notion that fathers are useless, how do we give our children a sense of Hope for the future? We must showcase the positive things fathers are doing in the community while counseling the misguided ones. America cannot survive without real fathers and real men. Seafood On My Mind!

By Bob Alexander Vacation meals should be fun to prepare and delightful to eat! In addition, leisure meals should be easy to prepare! I'm pretty sure that's a law in most parts of the country, especially on the Gulf Coast. No one wants to spend their vacation time slaving over a hot stove. Dinner is even more difficult when you have to serve twenty or more people. Each year our extended family gets together for a family reunion of sorts, sharing the costs of renting a couple of houses on a beach somewhere. It usually works out pretty good for everyone. Since there are at least five families involved, someone different fixes dinner each evening. It has turned into a contest as to who will have the best meal. When it was our family's time to feed the hungry relatives, we opted for a seafood dinner. I wanted to fix something that was fairly easy on the cooks. Just about anywhere on the gulf coast you can find a fish market that sells everything from shrimp to shark. The larger stores of course, sell a bigger variety. Often the seafood comes off their own boats and as a result their prices can be a little lower. I like the romance and aroma of a larger seafood market makes me see in my mind the fishing boats coming in with the sun rising behind them after a long night's fishing. I went grocery shopping in the early afternoon because I wanted to have time for the seafood to marinate before cooking. I found such a place in Carrabelle, Florida. Just off the main road to Apalachicola, Florida. This fish market reminds one of a long forgotten Florida; the one without tourists standing shoulder to shoulder on the road in front of the place. They even had a wharf where a well experienced shrimp boat was tied to the pier. This old fish market promised to have everything we wanted for the evening meal. Dinner was going to be as good as I could make it! I wanted the rest of the clan to lay down their aprons in defeat even before they had a chance to heat up the stove. I was going to have seafood kabobs with a tossed salad of just about any kind of fresh vegetable we could find to throw into the mix. My kitchen is no place for wooses! In the seafood market I found what I needed for the kabobs; shrimp, bay scallops and shark. They had some great cuts of swordfish which would have worked but I have my own personal boycott of swordfish going on because they are getting scarce due to over fishing. For our crowd I bought 3 pounds each of the seafood I had chosen. I was confident that would be enough to feed everyone. Kabobs can't be just meat alone so I went down the street and bought a fresh pineapple, bananas, a few peaches, a couple of apples, limes and two red bell peppers. Back at the house I began preparations for dinner. I cut the shark up into 1 inch squares. Then I peeled and devein the shrimp, using small scissors to cut the shrimp. I didn't want to disturb the tails. The scallops were extra large so I cut them in half. I then cut up the fruit and vegetable into coordinating pieces and thread the seafood and the vegetables on wooden skewers that have been soaking in water for at least an hour. Now for the marinade: 2 large cloves of garlic crushed, juice of one lemon and one lime, 1/3 cup of olive oil and 1 teaspoon salt. Place the kabobs in flat pans and pour the mixture over them. Marinate for two hours before cooking. When the coals on the grill are white it's time to cook. Cook the kabobs from 6 to 8 minutes depending on the temperature of the briquettes. The shrimp and scallops are done when the meat is no longer translucent. The shark is done when the meat flakes easily. Don't overcook and spoil the whole thing. This is a very easy dinner to make and it looks great on the grill. After all, presentation is what makes a great meal. What is Reiki, Benefits of Reiki, Healing Sessions, Herbs that Heal

By Roberta Barnes In Japan, in the early 1920s, Mikao Usui developed Reiki-ho (Reiki method) as the way to make mind and body healthy on the basis of Universal Reiki. (Doi 1999) Reiki is the vibration of love and harmony of universal energy. Reiki-ho is not only a wonderful healing technique, but also an effective way to raise spirituality and to create a positive life. Reiki brings all within and around the body into balance, surrounding with harmony, and thus healing the mind, body, and spirit. I have had students say to me, Reiki is making such a positive difference in my life. Reiki can be described as multidimensional. It goes to the core of the imbalance in mind, body, or spirit, the nucleus of the cell, and then moves imperceptibly outward through the tissue balancing and thus healing. We have heard of the invisible diseases, I introduce you to one of the invisible healers. Those of you familiar with herbs know of Dr. John R. Christopher saying, "Lobelia inflata knows where to go in the organism and what to do when it gets there." Usui Reiki Ryoho knows exactly where to go within the mind, body, and spirit and what to do when it gets there, even if symptoms have not yet surfaced to show that an imbalance exists. We often notice prescription medicine working in our body because it tends to act primarily through out nervous systems making a strong impression on at least one of the five primary senses. Reiki sometimes acts in such subtle ways as equalizing disturbances in the harmonic vibrations and homeostasis of our life force or as with one who is pregnant, the life force within. The Reiki (ray - key) practitioners body is the instrument through which universal energy flows drawn by the magnet of any imbalance in the mind, body, or spirit of the person, animal, or plant receiving. Neither Reiki practitioners nor teachers can direct the flow of Reiki. I say this is because Reiki is a universal energy and the universe allows free will. A Reiki practitioner does not manipulate muscles or tissues, and the client remains clothed. The Reiki practitioners hands can be placed on the body or can be held a few inches away, and the energy will flow either way. Because a wave of relaxation accompanies the right amount of energy flowing into the cells in need, clients usually lie on a Reiki table during a Reiki treatment session. In the words of one of my clients, this is the most wonderfully relaxed I have ever been, but I also have so much energy. Brain waves slow down and stress with all its symptoms melt away. People with chronic pain have told me they are pain free for two and three days following a session. A session is also a way of releasing any built up emotional encumbrances within you. Reiki does not cause any harm or place any demands on the mind, body or spirit. Benefits of Reiki to people, animals, and plants are too long to list here. In summary, the positive energy flowing into your whole self helps homeostasis happen. Your immune system strengthens allowing greater ease in fighting of illness. The inner healer is supplied with the energy needed so foreign microorganisms can be conquered and healing can begin. Reiki can rid the body of toxins, with or without extra water. Reiki is natural healing, which sometimes appears to be slow acting in comparison to chemicals, but rather then masking symptoms it goes to the core. Hippocrates said, "The physician treats, but nature heals." It can takes years for some illnesses to come to a point where they become noticed and with these illness more then one Reiki session is best because Reiki will never overburden cells with more eenrgy then each can handle at a specific time. Reiki speeds recovery following surgery, and all traumas. During pregnancy it flows to both the mother and child, and following birth it helps the mother to return to her balanced self more quickly. Reiki heals by bringing in balance and surrounding with harmony in the way that is best for each individual at the junction in time when it is flowing. Essential Cell Phone Accessories

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lydia_Quinn]Lydia Quinn Nowadays, everyone has a cell phone. It's as ubiquitous an accessory as purses or backpacks. Cell phones are now as essential to carry with you as keys, wallets or even money. Whether to communicate with your workplace for business reasons, to stay in touch with family or a myriad of other reasons, cell phones are simply an essential part of our daily lives. There are a number of accessories available to improve or enhance your cell phone experience, let's look at some of the essentials. Case Just about every cell phone should also have a matching case. A case will protect your phone from dirt, dust, minor spills or light rain and even offer some protection from drops and bumps. Your cell phone should last longer if you have a case on it, so it's also a practical accessory. Car Charger Pretty much everyone who has a car and a cell phone uses them together, right? So it makes sense to purchase a special charger just for use in your car. A car charger will protect against any charge loss but also provide additional charging power for when you leave your car. Headset A wireless headset is another essential accessory. A headset will allow you to talk without having to use your hands. It's safer for when you're driving but can also be handy for when you're walking somewhere or doing something that requires both your hands. There are also special hands-free units available specifically for use in your car. Emergency Charger An emergency charger is available in two types currently. One is a hand cranked model, where you turn a knob for a few minutes to generate power for a few minutes of cell phone use. The other is a battery powered model, which requires an AA battery. Both are good options to keep in your car, purse or on your person in case you get stuck somewhere with your car broken down or are somewhere where you have no outlet available to charge your phone. Just remember that with the battery powered model, you need to make sure the battery you carry with you is fresh or you'll need to carry extra batteries. In this case, the hand crank charger may be a better option for most people, since everyone has the ability to crank the charger and, in theory, you should be able to crank the charger to use the phone for as long as you need to. Also, needing batteries to charge your cell phone incurs an additional cost, whereas with the hand crank charger, there is no need to buy anything more for it to work. Services & Downloads There are many other accessories for your phone that can be downloaded or purchased in addition to your cell phone plan. For fun, there are dozens of games available for most cell phones, ranging from poker, solitaire and puzzle games to driving, shooting, strategy and adventure games. There's also many additional items available to personalize and customize your cell phone to make it reflect your personality and tastes, like ringtones, wallpaper and screensavers. In addition to these, you can customize your cell phone to automatically bring you relevant news, maps, restaurant reviews, theater listings, horoscopes, weather, sports scores and much more. Pretty much anything you can get on the web, you can also access through most cell phones. Lydia Quinn writes for Free-Ringtones.uk.net, where you can get ringtones for your cell phone for free. Completing the Job Application Form: Be Prepared

By Carla Vaughan The Job Application Form differs from your resume in that it requires you to include much more detailed information about certain things, such as your former employers address and telephone number. Your resume does not provide this and employers will want this information if they want to contact your former employer(s) and/or if they do a background check. Be prepared when you go to your next interview. On a separate sheet of paper, list all of the specifics about each of your former employers, the schools you attended and other important details that your resume omits. If you follow the link at the bottom of this page, you will be taken to a list of information that is most often required in order to complete a job application form. Most forms are easy to fill out, but they are time consuming and tedious. You will be asked to complete anywhere from 2-6 pages of information about your current situation as well as your history. Dont be intimated by it, just fill each section out as completely and accurately as possible. One of the reasons these forms are used is that the Human Resources department needs a variety of information to complete all of the necessary forms for insurance purposes, social security records, payroll data and so on. To make it easy on them, write as neatly as possible on the form and follow the instructions carefully. Sometimes you will come across a section that does not apply to you, such as military service or volunteer work. If that is the case, write Not Applicable or N/A in the blank(s) provided. That way, it will be obvious that you didnt skip over the section, but that it simply didnt apply to you. Whether you are asked to complete the employment application form before you are offered a job or afterward, be sure that the information you include on the form is directed specifically toward (tailored) to the position you are seeking. Just as the resume is aimed at a certain position, so too the application form should be similarly targeted to a specific job. In addition to the form or forms you are required to complete, you may be requested to provide other items as well. Take your social security card, drivers license, a list of personal and professional references, extra copies of your resume and copies of any certifications or licenses that you have with you. Better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them. Completing the forms that a prospective employer requires does not have to be difficult. Just spend a little time preparing for the situation prior to your arrival. How to Manage and Conquer Depression

By Jane Morris Millions of people suffer from a depressive illness. They thought that depression is just a normal occurrence in their lives, which will go away after a short while. They just havent realized how serious depression can be. Did you know that words related to depression have been searched over 993,000 times on the Internet for May 2005 alone? Much attention has been centered to this international health problem as the rigorous challenges of modern times continue to devastate those who cannot cope with it. Extreme depression can ultimately lead to suicide. No one is safe from being affected by depression because it affects everyone. It doesnt matter whether youre a male or female, rich or poor, educated or uneducated. Once a person starts becoming depressed, he or she usually behaves in a manner that intensifies the illness. HOW DOES DEPRESSION AFFECT THE INDIVIDUALS BEHAVIOR? Depressed people have some or more of the following characteristics: They lose interest on their love life, career, friends, and family. They experience loneliness, hopelessness, gloom, and indifference to their surroundings. It is a feeling of extreme despair. They seek to escape from problems and even from life itself. Thoughts of leaving home, running away or avoidance of others is common. They feel life is hopeless and worthless. Suicidal thoughts are lurking in their minds. There is a tendency to escape from the company of others because of an unexplained fear of being rejected. Their withdrawal consequently brings on some rejection by other people. They cancel scheduled activities, become uninterested to return phone calls, and seek ways to avoid talking with or seeing others. They are overly sensitive to what others say and do. They may misinterpret actions and suggestions in a negative way and become irritable because of those mistaken assumptions. They complain and cry a lot. They have a general loss of self-esteem. They feel more and more negative about lifes events, and they even question their own personal worth. Their selfconfidence level is extremely low. They experience negative changes in physical activitiesappetite, sleeping and sex. Some lose interest in sexual activities. Some lose interest in food while others gouge themselves with all the stuffs they can eat. Some sleep constantly while others cannot get to sleep easily, or they wake up in the middle of the night and cannot go back to sleep again. There is usually an underlying feeling of guilt. They often feel overly responsible for other peoples feelings. Depression often makes the depressed dependent upon other people. This further aggravates a feeling of helplessness, which makes them more upset. They have difficulty expressing and handling their feelings. Anger is especially difficult for them to control. Because of a sense of worthlessness and lack of knowledge in dealing with their situation, they get more enraged in themselves. This can be directed outward at others. Above ninety-five percent of even the most depressed individuals can be totally cured if the condition is identified at the early stages. It is essential to know and take action when the early warning signs of depression are manifesting. Dealing with depression requires first and foremost an understanding that it is a common and treatable illness. Its symptoms include the following: MAJOR SYMPTOMS OF DEPRESSION Miserable frame of mind over a period of time, sometimes in a number of weeks Expresses grief in activities and life in general, and fails to feel satisfaction Disheartened thinking - negative approach about oneself, the present and the future Difficulty in focusing and remembering Under the dilemma in making decisions - often even the more simple ones Feelings of unimportance and desperation Anxiety - a sense of being afraid - that something dreadful is going to happen Phobias or doubts about specific situations Loss of appetite and weight loss or, alternatively, increased appetite and weight gain Disrupted sleeping patterns - not much sleep or wanting to sleep all the time Feeling weary and lacking in energy and inspiration Loss of interest in sex Physical symptoms - aches and pains, gastrointestinal upsets, headaches Incapacity to do the usual everyday activities Thoughts of suicide Various people do not try to find treatment in the early stage of depression as they started to observe such symptoms and thought that it will just pass away in a period of time, not noticing how severe the health problem can be. UNOFFICIAL SYMPTOMS People with depressive illness are: Indifferent, uncommunicative, silent Selfish, unaware or insensitive about the needs of others Dominant Irrational and unreasonable Outgoing and pleasant in public, the opposite at home Fickle-minded and unpredictable Makes unexplainable and sudden references to separation and divorce Cruel, belittling, and critical Take alcohol and drugs in excessive amounts The unofficial list of symptoms demonstrate why depressive sickness threatens good relationships and disrupts families. Identifying, understanding, and learning how to cope with depression is the primary solution to end the sufferers misery. OFFICIAL SYMPTOMS These official real-life symptoms are the ones doctors use to diagnose depression. A consistent sad, empty, or distressed mood Irritability, excessive crying Sleep and appetite disturbances Chronic aches and pains that don't respond to treatment Difficulty in remembering, focusing, and making decisions Feelings of hopelessness, pessimism Loss of interest or pleasure in activities previously enjoyed, including sex and sports Thoughts of death or suicide; suicide attempts The amazing thing is, is that out of all the so-called mental illnesses depression is the easiest to cure. So how come there are hundreds of thousands of people trapped in this very serious state of mind? Regardless of age, status in the society, or profession, depression may affect anyone. It may exist at times of puberty, after childbirth and/or at mid-life. Thus, this health problem occurs at a specific period of time wherein circumstances of life may influence your mood. Immediate depression may be caused by particular events and losses such as death of a person close to you or reduction of your income. There are also other aspects to be considered, such as inherited factors associated with depression (a history of family depression) or other physical factors (abridged levels of neurotransmitters in the brain). At various phases of our lives, we have all experienced being down and troubled. It is due to the changes in our day-to-day living. It also affects our environment and interaction with others. Sometimes, events apparently cause us to be more upset and we become depressed for over a long period of time. As everyday events influence our moods, some make the misconception of depression as temporary blues or sadness. It might be a normal grief caused by the death of your loved one. People with the blues and normal grief might experience short-term symptoms of depression. MYTHS AND FALSE IMPRESSION The term depression is used to express a depressed mood, simultaneously with other symptoms, that exist for a prolonged period of time. When depression is not cured, it may influence normal performance. It is important to recognize that depression is not a sign of frailty or a lack of determination, and not something that you can easily escape from. It is a condition that can be cured through proper treatment. Because of the link between grief and depression, some make false impressions to both. Here are some myths that needs to be cleared up. Depressed People are Mentally Unstable and Inefficient. As you might experience troubles in making decision and difficulty in concentration and memory, lack of knowledge and misinformation leads to the thought that depressed people are incompetent. This is certainly not true! Because depression is a treatable illness, it can be cured by your own determination and will power. It can be treated faster with the help of others. Someone Must Have Brought the Depression. All of us used to admire others and set them as our role models. They might be our parents or other famous personalities. Some people have been mistaken and blamed by others for causing depression. You must understand that depression is a health problem that can only be caused by yourself and nobody is to blame . Depression is Gods Way of Punishing for Some Wrong Act or Misbehavior. This is a widespread belief in the midst of sufferers. If a person cant find the answer for his or her sufferings, then it might tend to make himself or herself more burdened by the depression, causing that person to find something wrong with himself or herself. This piece of writing describes what depression is and looks at the common causes and symptoms, as well as some of the myths about depression. No one should be ashamed of being depressed. It might seem so difficult and sometimes unbearable; to draw yourself out of a sinkhole of depression, but it is THE MOST TREATABLE EMOTIONAL PROBLEM. Always remember that you are not a terrible or hopeless person. Particular self-help methods in this section will seem more suitable for you to use to cope up with your depression. You can try two or three and see if they work. If not, take a break on something else. In general, gaining some optimism about getting better, having a clear viewpoint, and getting family support, along with selected self-help methods, will lead to a better recovery from depression. Remember you are not alone in your troubles, and the best way to start is to try and share the load with somebody. Civil War Uniforms: 9 Universal Tips on HOW TO Choose Accurate Yet Inexpensive Buttons

By Paula McCoach 1. Get yourself some good buttons. Stay away from plastic and modern buttons. Go with glass, bone, shell, metal, porcelain, 2-hole cats eye or Mother of Pearl. 2. Metal buttons are authentic but they have the potential to rust and stain your fabric. Some of the sutlers that sell fabric and sewing items have buttons. Or I have a ton of buttons I might be talked into parting with. Email me at coach@civilwaruniforms.net or visit http://www.civilwaruniforms.net 3. Variety of period buttons including Goodyear and natural substances. Many of these buttons are good for vests. 4. Buttons can also be found at flea markets, antique stores, in old button baskets, tins or jars. Frequently, you can buy a whole jar of buttons for $3 check out the buttons in it, and if you find a substantial amount of antique buttons, it certainly is worth it. 5. Sometimes the jar is as valuable as the buttons! I have found jars full of buttons with a hundred dollar button in it. Small items like buttons can make a huge difference and increase the value of your shirt, jacket, pants, etc. 6. Try to get all brass buttons not plated. Waterbury is good. Original buttons are a bit pricey but not out of the question. If you are getting the U.S. Eagle buttons, sutlers have them. 7. Stay away from the ones that are plated. I personally just use coin buttons. If you are doing a state regiment, you may want to go with state seal buttons, but I feel that limits your impression. 8. I buttons are good for a generic look. For late war buttons, you can use go the Tate Script I which were coming in later in the war. 9. U.S. buttons can go both ways: U.S. or Confederate. It would not be unusual to see an Eagle button on a Confederate uniform. Aromatherapy Essential Oil Kit - Hormone Balance Oil

By KG Stiles Whether you use aromatherapy as a stand alone or as a complementary first aid treatment there are several aromatic oils I'd like to recommend you have in your aromatic first aid kit. My recommendations include important details for you to consider when purchasing an oil, such as its Latin Name, Country of Origin, Method of Extraction and Part of the Plant Used. I also list the best oils to consider when creating a synergistic blend. GERANIUM ( Pelargonium roseum ) Certified Organic, Steam Distilled Leaf, Madagascar. A fresh, slightly rosy scent with a fluid consistency Geranium mixes well with many oils and is known for being useful in regulating physical, mental, and emotional imbalances and extremes. Keywords: HORMONAL BALANCE - Geranium's strength lies in its ability to regenerate tissue and nerves, and assist in balancing hormonal problems for both men and women. Definitely a first-aid oil every woman should have on hand. Women have used Geranium successfully for years to relieve premenstrual conditions and to smoothly navigate the menopausal period. Its tonifying action helps relieve nervous emotional conditions like anxiety, confusion, depression, lethargy, energy swings and tearfulness. Geranium has been effectively used to treat an assortment of symptoms, including overcoming addiction, labor and childbirth, enhancing circulation, relieving congestion, detoxification, constipation, fluid retention, indigestion, hormonal imbalances and menopausal difficulties. Geranium is excellent for skin care and will balance too oily, dry or combination skin types. Atypical Depression - The Most Common Form of Depression

By Andrew Bicknell Atypical depression, a subtype of major depression, is the most common form of depression today. People who suffer atypical depression exhibit all the normal symptoms of depression but they also react to external positive experiences in a positive way. Atypical depression sufferers respond to their environment, enjoying the company of friends but slipping back into deep depression when alone or faced with a stressful situation. It is this aspect of atypical depression that differentiates it from melancholic depression in which external positive experiences still result in depressed feelings. People who suffer from atypical depression also exhibit other symptoms that aren't normally associated with "normal" depression including: Increase in appetite with a weight gain of ten or more pounds. Hypersomnia -over sleeping of more than 10 hours per day. Leaden paralysis of the arms and legs Long term pattern of sensitivity to rejection in personal situations that causes social or work related withdrawal. In 1998 Dr. Andrew A. Nierenberg, associate director of the depression clinical and research program at Massachusetts General Hospital, published a study that found 42% of participants suffered from atypical depression, 12% had melancholic depression, 14% had both depression subtypes and the remaining did not suffer from depression. Studies have also found that atypical depression begins earlier in a persons life than other forms of depression with most sufferers beginning to show symptoms in their teenage years. Those who suffer from atypical depression are also at greater risk of suffering from other mental disorders such as social phobias, avoidant personality disorder or body dysmorphic disorder. Atypical depression is more prevalent in females than males as well, with nearly 70% of it's sufferers being women. Treating atypical depression is an ongoing process. Research has shown that MAOIs such as Nardil or Parnate work reasonably well as do the newer SSRI medications (Lexapro, Prozac, Zoloft). Most patients prefer the SSRIs because they do not exhibit the unpleasant side affects of the MAOIs. It is also important that if you or someone you know suffers from atypical depression that you or they seek psychiatric help. Atypical depression is not easy to diagnose the treatment choices can vary from patient to patient. A general care practitioner does not have the expertise to differentiate between the subtypes of depression and may not know the best course of treatment for their patient.
